New Level Brewing

A key pillar of New Level’s eye-catching brand is the illustrations featured on every can. We created an ever-growing cast of macabre creatures that jump off of liquor store shelves. Balanced somewhere between heavy metal mayhem and Saturday morning cartoons, these characters embody the boundary-breaking spirit of the brewery they represent.

CJSW:
Radio in Colour

We were honoured to be asked to create the artwork for the 2021 funding drive for CJSW, Calgary’s only Campus & Community Radio Station. The theme was “Radio in Colour” and our take on it was this dystopian future version of Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room operating in a dilapidated state — where the skeletal remains of the robotic birds are somehow broadcasting CJSW into the void. Artwork was used for the fundraising campaign, online and in print, and on donor thank-you gifts.

Camp Festival
Badges

Back in 2019 we took on the awesome task of designing a set of over 30 badges for the CAMP Festival website. Attendees would be awarded virtual badges for attending Calgary’s best creative conference, workshops and events held throughout the year. We created a family of icons that was bold and distinctive, using a limited palette and a consistent stroke weight throughout the set — with dashes of Slugger personality throughout.

Even before we had a name for our studio, one of the earliest Slugger projects was posters for group shows at Burnt Toast Studio. Today, posters remain one of our favourite things to create together, a single illustration where our styles and ideas coalesce into a collaborative solution that wouldn’t otherwise exist.
